It was the first day of Daylight Saving, and naturally there were a few members who hadn't reset the dashboard clocks of their cars - or their bedside alarms - so there were alarmingly small numbers at the exact appointed time. And then, suddenly, everyone was there. You could tell you were at the right venue: Mick Rust's seldom seen 20-25 Rolls-Royce Thrupp and Maberley Sedanca de Ville was parked on the street verge out the front.

The Boardwalk is the restaurant attached to the East Fremantle Yacht Club and hence had lovely views over the Swan, not to mention lovely views of serried ranks of very expensive holes in the water lined up at the moorings. It appears that the modern rule from luxury cruiser makers is that you can have one in any colour you like so long as it's white.

We missed President Williamson, who was unable to make it due to a long-standing commitment to another event in the north-west, so Andrew Marsden did the honours in lieu.

As always, it was a very festive event, with the usual raffles and awards, browsing and sluicing, tall stories, and laughter, and a great credit to Laurel Petty whose powers of organisation always astound.
