The British Car Show, Waroona
29 October 2006

THE WAROONA British Car Show isn't as big, nor as well-established, as the Gingin event, but it pulls in a large crowd of people and cars from south of Perth who don't normally make it as far north as Gingin. While Gingin is organised by the Jaguar Club, Waroona is organised by the Rover Car Club, and nicely organised it was, too, although the PA system wasn't as powerful as it could have been.

Nevertheless, there was a good rollup of proper motor cars, over a dozen, on what turned out to be a very sunny day. A car unseen for many years, the ex-Val Keogh Phantom 2 with Weymann coachwork, 98WJ, made it all the way from the Swan Valley, purring like a kitten. It has been in a long slumber, more than a decade inside a shipping container, and the proud new owner Nathan Clements has done a wonderful job in bringing it out of hibernation.

There was of course the traditional good rollup of Silver Shadows, including two Corniches (one convertible, one two-door saloon); and Frank Garlando's ultra-rare Silver Spur with division appeared, now in new ownership and looking spotless. We now have two immaculate concours-standard Spurs to admire.
