Our 2009 AGM and Annual Elections
Sunday 16 August 2009

Congratulations to the new Committee which has taken office after the August AGM.

There are several new faces, with some Committee veterans retiring gratefully to the back benches. Mick Rust stood down as President after a very hectic year which involved the daunting task of organising the hugely successful National Rally.

The new lineup is as follows:

It was good to see some familiar faces, including former President Neil Williamson, taking a break from his whirlwind jetset existence, plus some new faces too.

Also nice to see was the smartk 2-door Delage parked outside the Veteran Car Club clubrooms, venue for the AGM. It belonged to the VCC member who opened up the building and gates for us, and featured the remarkable Cotal electrically operated gearbox, with its tiny little gear lever falling readily to fingers on a bracket behind the steering wheel. It was soon joined by several other cars, including a 1939 Ford V8 coupe and a 1937 Chev four door tourer, because the VCC was having a club run on that very cold and windy day.

At the Special General Meeting held before the AGM began, the Constutional Amendments were passed unanimously, bringing some of the Club's rules into the 21st Century by acknowledging other means of payment besides cheque; by having the Committee appoint auditors in future rather than the cumbersome process of submitting appointment to the AGM (and if our Auditor died or retired mid-year, having to call a Special general Meeting just for that!); and by accepting that some Partners today are not necessarily spouses.

No pictures, unfortunately! Your media-savvy Webmaster forgot to bring his camera!
